Spirit of Saké (魂の酒)

Composer: Group Tamashii

(Note: Please check the bottom of the page for translation notes.)

I'm going out again
I'm going out for a drink
I'm going out 'til morning
I'm going to Shinjuku
I'm going out again
I'm still going
I'm gonna borrow some money
I'm going to Shirokiya1

"I gotta go to this thing"
You're the only one who's thinking that

Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
Do the Robot while naked
Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
Tongue piercings with yakitori skewers
Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
Mixing up Osugi and Peeco3
Confusing soy sauce for Worcestershire sauce

[Dialogue here. No transcription for it, so I can't translate it :(]

I'm gonna come back
I'm gonna come for drinks
I'm gonna sniff it out
I'm gonna follow it

You asked if you could have some of my drink
It's not yours y'know!

Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
Talking to the chief like he was my bud
Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
Deep frying the manager's tie
Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
Burn Tetsuko's bangs
And while you're at it, light a fart on fire!

Happy GET AWAY4
Happy GET AWAY4
Money GET AWAY4 too
FOR-E-VER

"Thanks for treating me today"
Whoa, whoa. What about payday?

Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
While riding a taxi, REVERSE!
Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
Turn it around REVERSE!
Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
To the prez's wig, REVERSE!
Drink 'til you spew!

Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
Tomorrow's physical exam day
Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
Gastroscopy REVERSE!
Drinkin' Drinkin' Shatter Boundaries2!
I feel like I'm gonna die now
Drink 'til you die!

Translation Notes

  1. Shirokiya (白木屋) is a department store located in Honolulu, Hawaii. It started off as a chain of stores, but was millions of dollars in debt in the 90's. The chain closed all its stores in 2002, but reopened its doors in 2003, one year before this song was released.
  2. Bureiko (無礼講) is a phenomenon that occurs during after-work drinking parties (Nomikai (飲み会)) where coworkers act more informally around each other regardless of rank within the company. Whatever happens during a Nomikai is forgotten/ignored by the time everyone goes back to work. "Shatter Boundaries" is the best way I can translate this.
  3. Osugi (おすぎ) and Peeco (ピーコ) (real names Takaki Sugiura (杉浦 孝昭) and Katsuaki Sugiura (杉浦 克昭)) are twin brothers and were famous television personalities.
  4. GET AWAY (ゲラウェイ) seems to be a Japanese meme or slang? More research needed.
