The Continent of Yondo
The continent of Yondo was created thousands of years ago by the Five Great Beasts. The Black Turtle created the archipegalo nation of Merinas to the north, the Teal Wyrm created the forest nation of Foliaga to the east, the Red Phoenix created the desert nation Fuegsol to the south, the White Tiger created the mountainous nation Oregot to the west, and the Yellow Serpent created the plains of Medeas in the center. There are rumors of another Beast that ruled the land even before the aforementioned Great Beasts, but of course, that is merely a rumor and nothing more.
The central country of Medeas is known as the peacekeeper among the other nations. Their people tend to be wise and level-headed. Military might is not the largest or strongest. But, it is the most balanced and versatile allowing them to combat in a wide array of circumstances. Their army has soldiers specialized in riding a variety of mounts. These include horses and pegasi. There are individuals well versed in all weapon types, but the lance, sword, and bow are the most prominent. Those of the royal family get trained in multiple weapon types. Its current rulers are King Bryant and Queen Adeline. Princess Krista is next in line to inherit the throne.
The eastern country of Foliaga is heavily forested and said to be surrounded by a mystical aura. Those not accustomed to the land can be easily lost. The land is guarded by those of the soldier class who guard its borders. The inhabitants deep within have strong ties with each other and the woods they call home. Many of them are skilled in the arcane arts--namely light, fire, thunder, and wind magics. They keep to themselves and generally do not concern themselves with other's affairs. But, once one wins their loyalty and friendship, they will stick by you no matter what. This land has many Light Mages, Sages, Clerics, Mage Knights, Wicken Fliers, Dark Fliers, and Soldiers. Its league of Holy Knights keep its citizens safe. Foliaga is currently ruled by Archbishop Azalea.
The people of Merinas tend to be laid-back and calm. Due to being an archipelago nation, seafaring is common knowledge. Their navy is the best in Yondo, boasting the strongest of Pirates. The islands have organized sea trade routes within the nation. However, the nation is currently facing a large pirate problem raiding ships on these trade routes. The other nations hire sailors from Merinas for mercenary work or overseas trading expeditions. The current ruler of Merinas is Emperor Samegoro.
The southern desert of Fuegsol is full of boisterous people full of life and energy. The land's harsh desert climate has made its people hardy, strong, and resilient. This nation boasts having the best spies in all the world; anything that goes on they know about it. No coin gets exchanged between merchants that they don't know about. Its military might is quite strong, boasting skilled Wyvern Riders, Dark Mages, and Myrmidons. Fuegsol's current rulers are King Gerolt and Queen Leeann.
The western country of Oregot is known for its advanced technology and large merchant population. Bandits are known to lurk there to mug traveling merchants, though. The southwestern region of the country has fewer bandits. Because of this, many merchants hire mercenaries to act as bodyguards while travelling along trading routes. The merchants provide mercenaries with a supply of good weapons and--of course--gold. There are many robust individuals living there such as Mercenaries and Fighters. Many people are trained in the use of axes and swords. Some mercenaries have taken it upon themselves to drive out the bandits completely. This is a large and daunting task due to how far the mountains stretch with any number of hiding spots and lairs. Oregot is ruled by a council of rich merchants.
