Forrest's Supports

Krista

C Support

Forrest: Your Highness, are you awake? *sigh* No, not even a bit. Of course. Your Highness, wake up!
Krista: Wait! Grab my- H-huh?
Forrest: You were dreaming, milady.
Krista: O-Oh... Uh, good morning?
Forrest: "Good afternoon" is more appropriate.
Krista: Oh, lunch time!
Forrest: Yes. Then, it's time for lessons.
Krista: Maaaan. Do I gotta? They're so boringgggg.
Forrest: Yes, you "gotta". As future queen of Medeas, you must be knowledgable in many aspects. Not just combat, but also history, mathematics-
Krista: "And literature and theology to ensure a well-balanced mind, body, and spirit befitting a proper ruler of Medeas." Man, I've lost count of how many times I've heard that spiel.
Forrest: I wonder why that might be.
Krista: Anyway, I'm too hungry to argue about it. Let's head off to the dining hall.
Forrest: As you wish, milady.
Krista leaves.
Forrest: ...
Forrest, thinking: What was she mumbling about just now? Could it be that nightmare?

B Support

Forrest: Your Highness, it is time for- Ah. Still asleep, as per usual.
Krista: E-Ervan... No...
Forrest: Your Highness?
Krista: Don't... Wait, please... I...
Forrest: That nightmare again, is it...? Your Highness, wake up!
Krista: Gah! I'm up! I'm up! Oh, Forrest, it's just you.
Forrest: You were having that nightmare again.
Krista: O-Oh... ...
Forrest: Milady, you shouldn't blame yourself for-
Krista: I don't wanna talk about it, okay?!
Forrest: ...
Krista: S-Sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you. I just...
Forrest: It's fine. But please understand, if you ever do wish to talk about it, I am always willing to lend an ear.
Krista: I know.

Kai

C Support

Forrest: Pretty good spar today, Kai.
Kai: Indeed. Let's see, that puts our monthly spars at a tie again with four wins each.
Forrest: Ha, seems so. Though we're evenly matched, your speed always impresses me. It feels as if you can get another attack in before I can do anything.
Kai: Thanks, but it's not like you make it any easier for me. Your defensive maneuvers always keep me on my toes.
Forrest: Perhaps one day we'll see who's the better one between us.
Kai: I believe we already established that around eight months ago.
Forrest: That was a fluke and you know it.
Kai: Aw, don't be like that. Look at it this way. If I didn't win, you would've lost out on the best sparring partner in the world.
Forrest: ...
Kai: Come on. You like having me around. Admit it.
Forrest: Before this conversation, I would have agreed. But I suppose training alongside you has had its benefits.
Kai: Now was that so hard?
Forrest: If I knew you were this insufferable, I would have never agreed to hiring you. Still, your knowledge has proved useful time and time again. You have been a great addition to our ranks thus far.
Kai: Happy to be of service.
Forrest: At any rate, I will be preparing for our next spar. Don't expect me to go easy on you.
Kai: I never do, Forrest. I never do.

B Support

Kai: Hey, I've been wondering something. What reasons do you have for training as much as you do? Aside from the obvious, of course.
Forrest: I'm afraid the obvious reason is my only reason, Kai. Protecting Her Highness is my duty, and I take this duty seriously. I'd even lay down my life if it meant ensuring her safety.
Kai: You sure have a one-track mind. Is that why you were so dead-set on beating me during our first spar?
Forrest: Perhaps.
Kai: It checks out if that were the case. We did agree that if I won, I'd be hired, after all. Were you so opposed to have anyone get close to Her Highness that you'd do whatever it took to keep her out of reach?
Forrest: !!
Kai: You're so easy to read. With how much you wear your heart on your sleeve, I'm surprised Her Highness hasn't figured out that you-
Forrest: We are ending the conversation here!
Kai: And you're easy to tease.
Forrest: Have I mentioned how insufferable you can be?
Kai: In all seriousness, your devotion is almost enviable, Forrest. Can't say I'm of the same mentality, though. I value my own existence too much. If I realized that sooner, then maybe things could've been different...
Forrest: What do you mean by that?
Kai: Ah, it's nothing. Just me thinking aloud. Anyway, good spar again, Forrest. Keep up the good work.
Forrest: You as well, Kai.

Trevor

C Support

Forrest So, Trevor, how have you been lately? Not too stressed from your first time on the battlefield, I hope.
Trevor: Why, I have been doing quite well, thank you. Fighting alongside you, Her Highness, and everyone else has been most exhilarating.
Forrest: That's a relief to hear. Most people can't handle being in the heat of battle. I know when I was still a squire, just the thought of hurting someone else made me uneasy.
Trevor: Is that so? That is difficult to believe, in my opinion. Why, look at you now! You have been protecting Her Highness from ruffians left and right like a true knight should.
Forrest: Most of those rescue missions were unnecessary, but yes. I have gotten used to upholding my duties as Princess Krista's knight.
Trevor: Just how do you do it, Forrest? I am sure this change of heart did not happen overnight.
Forrest: No, it didn't. It felt like it did, though. I had to do a lot of self-reflection after Princess Krista was first kidnapped by bandits years ago.
Trevor: Years ago?
Forrest: Yes. This was back when Sam was still with us. And unlike the many times after this one, this kidnapping was not deliberate on Krista's part.
Trevor: That must have been a traumatic experience. At least one would assume so. And if that were the case, why would Her Highness keep letting herself-
Forrest: Don't ask questions you're not prepared to hear the answer to, Trevor.
Trevor: Understood. ... I think. Regardless, please continue, Forrest.
Forrest: We were young when it happened. I would have been around your age, in fact. The princess was not in any danger before that point, so it never occurred to me that I would have to raise my sword to serve her. Not until that day.
Trevor: Forrest...
Forrest: Trevor, while I am glad you can hold your own, do not forget your duties as Princess Krista's retainer. You have to be there to protect her no matter what. That is your number one priority.
Trevor: No matter what...

B Support

Forrest Trevor, just what were you doing out there during the last battle?! If I weren't close by, Her Highness would have-
Trevor: Do you think I don't know that?! By Medea, Forrest, when there's that many enemies surrounding us, there's only so much I can do. Some of us aren't as brawny as you are.
Forrest: That is no excuse. Remember what I said before? Protecting Princess Krista is your top priority.
Trevor: Are you suggesting my own life is not as important as hers?
Forrest: Is that even a question?
Trevor: Do you even comprehend your own words right now, Forrest? It is one thing to serve Her Highness, but to throw one's own life away so carelessly? That is inconceivable!
Forrest: Then, I'm afraid you will have to reconsider your position as her retainer, Trevor. It's a difficult concept to grasp, I know. But it is necessary. Princess Krista is Medeas' future queen. Without her, the kingdom will fall.
Trevor: But even so... what if we were gone? Who would be there to protect her?
Forrest: There... There are other knights and mages, Trevor. We... can be replaced if need be.
Trevor: You do not honestly believe that, do you?
Forrest: It does not matter what my personal feelings are. This is just the reality of the situation. I... have come to accept that a long time ago.
Trevor: ... Are you sure about that?
Forrest: Look. We are done here, Trevor. Just think about what I said. Do not let Her Highness be in peril again.
Forrest leaves.
Trevor: Despite what you may say, I am not the only one who has to think about this, Forrest.

A Support

Trevor: Forrest, are you well? You seemed distracted during the last battle.
Forrest: That is just your imagination, Trevor. I'm perfectly fine.
Trevor: I am not so sure about that. You were so focused on your own actions, you paid no attention to anything else around you.
Forrest: Is that so...
Trevor: Seeing you waver like this is unusual, and quite frankly, it worries me. I wish to help you if something is troubling you, Forrest. You are my friend, after all.
Forrest: ... I was thinking about our discussion from some time ago. I know I said we could be replaced, but... I wish to remain at Her Highness' side for as long as I can. The fear of losing her overwhelmed me, I suppose.
Trevor: So, there IS a human heart beneath all that armor.
Forrest: Oh, please. This may sound selfish of me, but I do not wish to entrust her life to someone else's hands. To tell you the truth, when Her Highness brought in Felicity, then Kai, then you... I had my doubts about you all. But you proved your worth eventually.
Trevor: I am not sure if I should be elated or offended.
Forrest: I apologize. I'm not very good at this.
Trevor: Do not fret. I know you meant well. I admire your honesty even if you can be blunt about it at times.
Forrest: My honesty, hm...? Forrest: May I confess something to you? I actually haven't said the whole truth.
Trevor: Oh?
Forrest: I may be upholding my duties as Princess Krista's knight, but ultimately, I... I love her, Trevor.
Trevor: I... see...
Forrest: That's why I can't let her go to anyone else.
Trevor: I can understand the sentiment, Forrest. I also...
Forrest: Hm?
Trevor: Ah, nothing. Pay me no mind. At any rate, let us continue to do good work together.
Forrest: Of course.

Chell

C Support

Chell: On laundry duty today, Forrest?
Forrest: Yes, I am. Was there something you needed?
Chell: I finished gathering firewood, so I wanted to see if you needed assistance.
Forrest: That would be much appreciated. Thank you, Chell.
Chell: It is my pleasure. One moment, isn't that Princess Krista's blouse? I didn't know you took care of her laundry as well.
Forrest: I typically don't. That's Felicity's job. She's busy catching up on her other duties, so I'm taking over for her.
Chell: Is that so? And you don't feel awkward handling a woman's clothing?
Forrest: The way you phrased that made me feel more awkward about it than me actually doing it. But in all seriousness, no. I don't. I had to take over for Felicity a few times over the years, and it was embarrassing for a while. But ultimately, it was something I got used to.
Chell: I see...
Forrest: Is there something on your mind?
Chell: Nothing in particular. It's just with how well you perform your duties around the castle, I think you'd make a good husband one day.
Forrest: I... Pardon?
Chell: I apologize. That did not come out as I intended. I didn't mean to imply that you and I would...
Forrest: It's alright. I'll take it as a compliment.

B Support

Chell: Forrest, have you thought about having children one day?
Forrest: What's with this sudden question? Wait, is this related to our discussion the other day?
Chell: Yes, it is, actually. So, has it ever crossed your mind?
Forrest: It hasn't. Well, I mean, it has, but...
Chell: You'd want Her Highness to be the mother?
Forrest: Chell, don't say such things out loud! It's not proper.
Chell: Even if it's true?
Forrest: Yes, even if it's- ... How dare you.
Chell: Allow me to be frank, but everyone and their mother knows you have feelings for Princess Krista.
Forrest: Has it been that obvious?
Chell: Yes. It has been that obvious for years. Pardon me for being overly critical, but it's to the point where it's almost pitiful.
Forrest: Your words wound me, Chell. Though, I suppose this is something I needed to hear.
Chell: There is more to life than her, you know.
Forrest: That is easy for you to say. Protecting Her Highness, staying by her side... This life with her is all I've ever known, Chell. I cannot stray from it so easily.
Chell: But what if you could? What if one day, you no longer were duty-bound to her?
Forrest: That's... I can't even begin to imagine such a life.
Chell: Maybe you should. There could be a time when she isn't here. You never know what could happen in the future.
Forrest: A time when she isn't here...

A Support

Chell: Forrest? Do you mind if I ask you something?
Forrest: Go ahead.
Chell: Do you think... I would make a good mother?
Forrest: Still on that train of thought? What brought this on specifically?
Chell: I was thinking about Lin.
Forrest: Ah.
Chell: I can't help but think I could have done better.
Forrest: Chell, you're her sister. Not her mother. What more could you have done?
Chell: I know, but ever since Mother was gone, I had to be the one there for her. Was I too tough on her? Did I say something wrong? I-
Forrest: Chell, stop. Don't beat yourself up over this. You tried your best given the circumstances. You were young. And the pain of losing a mother not only affected her, but you as well. You had it just as hard, if not harder than she did. No one should blame you for her leaving. Especially not yourself.
Chell: Forrest...
Forrest: You're a strong woman, Chell. Your future children would be lucky to have a mother like you. And you won't be alone in raising them either. Your future husband would be there by your side.
Chell: I... Yes, you're right. Thank you, Forrest.

S Support

Forrest: Chell, may I speak to you for a moment?
Chell: Yes? What is it?
Forrest: I... Oh, Medea, this is nerve-wracking.
Chell: I've never seen you like this before. What's gotten you so nervous?
Forrest: I just... Allow me to be frank with you. I said before that your future husband would support you in raising a family. When I told you that, I never imagined I would refer to myself.
Chell: Wait, what are you trying to say?
Forrest: I've considered my options, and I believe this path is best for me. You were right. There is more to life than serving Her Highness. Chell, you've opened my eyes to a world I have not seen before, and I will forever be thankful for that. Would you... be willing to expand my world further?
Chell: That's... a ring?! Forrest...!
Forrest: I-Is that a "yes"?
Chell: Absolutely! Oh, Forrest, of course I'll marry you.
Forrest: Chell, I... Please be patient with me on this. This... This is all very new to me.
Chell: We're in this together. You said so yourself. I'll support you as long as you do the same for me.
Forrest: I... Yes. Of course. Thank you.

Marina

C Support

Forrest: Hm-hmm hmmmm~ Lala la doo doo...
Marina enters the scene.
Marina: Oh, Forrest. Was that you just now?
Forrest: Miss Marina! You startled me. And I'm sorry, but what are you referring to?
Marina: Why, your singing, of course!
Forrest: My singing? I'm not being a nuisance, am I?
Marina: The complete opposite, actually! You have quite the voice, Forrest. If you weren't a knight, I'm sure you would make an excellent bard.
Forrest: I... Thank you? I'm not sure how to take that.
Marina: Take it as a compliment, dear. Trust me, if this knight business goes south, you have nothing to worry about. You have your charming voice to fall back on. Though, even if you didn't have the gift of song, your handsome face could get you far in other lines of work...
Forrest: E-Excuse me??
Marina: Pay no mind to that last thing. It was mearly a joke. I'll let you get back to your chores.
Marina leaves.
Forrest: Just what did she mean by other lines of...? D-Did she really mean...?! For the love of Medea, I spend too much time with Krista...

B Support

Marina: Hmm hmmmm la la la~
Forrest enters the scene.
Forrest: Who is- A-Ah, Miss Marina.
Marina: Sir Forrest? Haha! I see it's your turn to walk in on me this time.
Forrest: I apologize. I did not mean to disturb you.
Marina: Oh, Sir Forrest, you can be so serious sometimes. No harm done. Really.
Forrest: Alright.
Marina: Why don't you stay here and relax for a little while? You must be busy, but a few minutes of rest won't hurt, I'm sure.
Forrest: It would be rude if I declined, wouldn't it? I shall take you up on your offer, then.
Marina: That's a good boy.
Forrest: May I ask you something first, Miss Marina?
Marina: Of course you may.
Forrest: What was that song you were singing just now? It was quite beautiful.
Marina: Ah, it's a folk song that originated from Lake Lunaris. It's called "Moon Forest".
Forrest: How fitting.
Marina: Indeed. Its lyrics speak of the moon's beauty as it's reflected upon Lake Lunaris's surface. I could teach it to you, if you'd like.
Forrest: Oh, are you sure?
Marina: Absolutely. I wasn't lying the other day when I said you had a good voice. Honestly, I just want to hear you at least attempt to sing it.
Forrest: Well, if you insist. I'll do my best, Miss Marina.

Jake

C Support

Forrest: Jake, may I ask you for some advice?
Jake: Well, sure thing, Sir Forrest! What's troubling ya?
Forrest: I... well... This is embarrassing, but... How do you... court a woman?
Jake: Is that all? No need to be so shy about it! So, who's the lucky lady?
Forrest: Th-That is irrelevant, isn't it?
Jake: I suppose. But you gotta tell me who it is at some point, okay?
Forrest: Fine.
Jake: So, first thing's first. You gotta get on this girl's good side. Listen to her problems, do little things for her, stuff like that.
Forrest: I do a lot of that already.
Jake: There we go! You're already ahead of the game here. From there, you drop subtle hints that you like her. Key word here: SUBTLE. Speaking from personal experience.
Forrest: But, it still worked, correct? You and Anna-
Jake: There were other girls before Anna. So many other girls...
Forrest: ... Ah.
Jake: But yeah, subtlety is your best friend. Don't forget it!
Forrest: I apologize, Jake, but subtlety has not made any noticeable difference.
Jake: Huh, really? If that's the case, then might as well just be upfront with her!
Forrest: N-No! That is not an option.
Jake: Alright, alright. I think I see what the problem is. Sir Forrest, what you need is to work on your confidence!
Forrest: My confidence?
Jake: Yup! Once we get that confidence up, you can get your girl, guaranteed!
Forrest: I suppose we can try that.
Jake: Great! I'm gonna brainstorm some ideas for confidence boosters. I'll check back in with ya later.
